Squashing a common misconception: Many technicians believe HEVs are difficult to diagnose because you can’t scope high‑voltage circuits. And while it’s true that HV components require specialized training and safety procedures, that doesn’t mean HEVs are harder to diagnose — or that you should avoid them.

Modern HEVs are built around software, data, and coordinated control modules, which means a large percentage of real‑world faults are identified and resolved through your scan tool, not by probing high‑voltage circuits.
